The Problem

PFAS or “forever chemicals” are really dangerous chemicals and they are in Paducah’s water. See test results by clicking here. The bottom line is that we should be working to remove these chemicals completely. Paducah is testing for these chemicals occasionally (four times per year) but is considering increasing testing to on a monthly basis. Even the occasional testing shows that we are routinely above EPA suggested limits and have shown results of more than four times that amount. While we believe Paducah is doing a good job generally, we want to get rid of these chemicals in our water completely.

The Solution

Luckily, there are solutions out there. Cities and municipalities around the country are implementing new large scale filters that are able to remove these chemicals. The state of Kentucky also has funding available to help implement these solutions. We are just beginning this effort and plan to document the process along the way.
